Cant take birth control pills because of risk of stroke, whats the next best thing?

I am in the same boat as you. When I was 16 I started taking bc and about a month later I ended up in the hospital with blood clots. I almost died. So now I can not take ANY type of bc. I am married and we don't want children right now so it makes it tough. I am not sure if you want to take birth control because you have severe cramps or you want to prevent pregnancy. If it is to prevent pregnancy I would suggest using a diaphragm. It claims that if uses correctly you only have a 9% chance of getting prego. And if your partner wears a condom that will lower your chances even more. However, if you want bc becomes of cramps I would suggest going to the doctor and ask about pain pills you can take. Best of luck to you!
