Ignore certain keywords?
I do a lot of SEO copy writing at Metapilot and rarely, if ever, have I found myself in that situation. But let's say I was comparing and contrasting a competitive product or service and used the competitor's name in the post many times. If it is a competitive term, then making sure that you didn't use it in the page title, meta description, or meta keywords tags would almost guarantee that the post didn't show up anywhere near the top of the rankings for your term. Also, make sure you aren't linking to the post from your other blog posts or from other sites using that term. You might also think about replacing the term written in html with the term written into a graphic where possible.
