MHCC or university???????????

I am a senior in high school. I am pretty much sure I want to be a journalist. I would save a ton of money by going to MHCC (mount hood community college) for 2 years and then transferring to a university, either UO or PSU. ...........or I was thinking I could just go to either UO or PSU for 4 years. If I went to a university straight from high school for 4 years, I and my parents believe that it would drastically help me gain responsibility and expand my horizons, and help me stay committed to the four year degree, rather than having the option of ending my studies after 2 years of community college, which I hope won't happen. oh gosh, I just don't know what to do. I can't apply to any universities yet until I for sure know if I want to go there because of the application fees. Please help. Thank you all.
