How do i find my vocal range?

I have a 5 octave piano at home you know the none grands with no wide big range. I dont understand what people mean to start on middle c. Please dont give me a copy and paste complicated answer. I need to know if it depends on the piano u have and where is middle c on there, and what exactly does notes with numbers mean. For instance a3-a6 lol what is that?
